Some practical tips and advice for people with motor difficulties

If I speak for myself, I would definitely say that I am clumsy. Falling, not steady walking, dropping things, having issues with a lot of things involving the use of hands. Well, throughout the years I have found some things that come in handy. I will try not to say brand names, because it might differ in each country. But here are some things that helped me out.

  1. Shampoo and conditioner bars
One thing I struggle with is dosage when it comes to things like shampoo, toothpaste et cetera. Toothpaste is a point for later on in this article. But I love shampoo and conditioner bars. No issues with the perfect dosage, you just rub the bar over your hands and put your hands through your hair. Same for the conditioner bar. No more dropping the bottle or squeezing it half empty on accident.

  2. Laundry sheets or pods
As I got older I had to do my own laundry, and I would always struggle so much with the bottles or detergent. I would pour wayyy too much out of them, or overflow the measuring cup. These pods have really helped me out, but laundry sheets even more! Just put one sheet in with the rest of the laundry, and you have no worries at all!

  3. Toothpaste tablets
This one might be a little more unknown, but a few years ago I learned about these tablets that were used for toothpaste. They look like mints, but you can brush your teeth with them. Works like a charm, also good for the environment (just like the shampoo bars) but more importantly, no more squeezing in bottles.

  4. Strainers for cooking
We all know the trouble of having to drain vegetables or whatever things we cook in water. I tried to learn how to use the pan and the lid. But at one point I thought, why struggle when you can just use a strainer? No more issues! I have two strainers, most importantly is that they have to be able to stand on their own. Not those with a handle. Put them down in your sink, and pour the contents of the pan into it. Problem solved!

Well, I hope I have helped you out a little bit. Most of these tips are useful for children and adults alike. These are just the things that came to mind, thinking about some things that helped me out.
